The most recent advancement in medical power supply design is the implementation of digital control technologies.     - Per ISO 10993-1 standard
  7. Develop critical component list
    - If it affects test results or requirements in the standard, it's a critical component
    - May be design specifications (spacings, colors, etc.)
  8. Prepare the technical power module power supply report and optionally, the Informative Test Report
    - Preferred document for CE Marking technical files

The PW-500B series of 500 watts 500W single output power supply includes a grounded single output, single phase, switching power supply with active PFC and an optional active current share function utilizing a built-in high efficiency OR-ing FET diode and includes a good quality dual ball bearing Fan. This switching power supply meets safety, EMC, and RoHS requirements.

With an input range from 90-264VAC full range, and other specifications such as the leakage current measurement, are made in accordance with Safety Agency requirements, the PW-500B series of 500 watts 500W single output switching power supply meets the rigorous international safety standards of IEC 60601-1 for medical equipment, making it suitable for use in B and BF type medical applications. The 8*4.67*1.5 inch switching medical power supply complies with UL 60905-1/CSA C22.2 No.950-1/EN60905-1/IEC 60905-1 standards. Regulated DC outputs of 12V, 24V, 36V or 48VDC are standard and other voltages can be provided.

For output characteristics such as static DC load, ripple and noise, 20HMz bandwidth ripple & noise is measured by using 0.1 uF C.C. & 10uF/50V E.C. bypassed at the output connector. The regulation shows the percentage of allowable output voltage variation from the nominal output voltage. The total output should be limited to 500W max.

PW-500B series of 500 watts 500W single output power module power supply maintains its proper output voltage within voltage specifications for at least 20 milliseconds after losing input power under typical input conditions with 75% loading and any overshoot during turn-on/turn-off is less than ±10% of the nominal output voltage values. No voltage of opposite polarity is present on output during turn-on or turn-off.

When voltage range goes from +13.2VDC to +15.6VDC, the power supply will turn OFF, the short circuiting of output will cause the power supply to shut down without damage; the power supply will automatically recover after the short circuit is removed. Over load protection will be effected when overloading reaches 110%~150% of Max. load, when that occurs, the power supply will recover after the overload is removed. That being said, the power supply includes over temperature protection. An over temperature condition is typically the result of current overloading, or inadequate air circulation. When the thermistor senses a temperature inside the power supply that is above normal, the unit will automatically shut down. The power supply will recover when the thermistor temperature returns to a normal value and after the INHIBIT pin is reset.

Other features such as a redundant operation capability and a high current standby output make the PW-500B series of 500 watts 500W single output power supply equally suitable for high integrity applications including broadcast, instrumentation, routers, servers and security networks, as well as, ATE, factory automation and mechatronics.

PW-500B series of 500 watts 500W single output power supply has additional functions such as inhibited remote control; when the logic level is low (0-0.5V), output is disabled, when logic level HIGH (3.5-5.25V) or floating, output is enabled. The fan speed control function is great, it includes a sophisticated fan controller that only turns the fan on as needed logic level HIGH), sets the fan speed according to cooling requirements, and generates a fan fail alarm for a non-rotating fan.

PW-500B series of 500 watts 500W single output power supply's operating temperature in normal environment is from 0 to 70 degrees centigrade and the relative humidity is from 5 to 95%, non-condensing, when shipping and storage, the temperature is from -10 to +85 degrees centigrade, relative humidity is from 10 to 95%, non-condensing.

For its safety requirement, the dielectric withstand is 4242 VDC from primary to secondary, 2121 VDC from primary to frame ground and 707 VDC from secondary to frame ground. The insulation resistance is 20 Meg. Ohms Min. 500 VDC from primary to secondary, 20 Meg. Ohms Min. 500 VDC from primary to frame ground. The tests for electromagnetic compatibility will performed with host system.

The 200W adapter's 20MHz bandwidth ripple & noise is measured by using 0.1 uF C.C. & 10uF/50V E.C. bypassed at the output connector. Regulation shows the percentage of absolute value of nominal output voltage and the total output power maximum is 200W. The 200W power supply unit should maintain its proper output voltage within voltage specifications for at least 16 milliseconds after losing input power under the condition of typical input with 100% loading.
